Shaw's Cove
A bright, sunny day at the beach. I love Southern California weather! It is definitely worth the hassle to live in this area.
There are muscles everywhere at the tide pools. Many are just empty shells since crabs and gulls find them delicious.
A group of about eight scuba divers appeared from the depths. Apparently, there is a steep dropoff a little way offshore. The divers love the wildlife there.
A diver waits for his buddy before leaving the beach.
Muscles everywhere!
And sea anemones too!
Life finds a way. Flowers and shrubs grow "out of the rocks."
The ocean dug a trench between rock formations on the shore. As the tide came in, the water rushed along the channels to replenish the pools. At high tide, the rocks are almost completely covered.
I believe that is Johnathan Livingston Seagull guiding the boat into its slip.
The white spots in this image are some pollen or other floating particles on the water's surface. Rest assured; I do not let my lens or sensor get that dirty!
Our friends gaze out over the ocean and the tide pools. Despite all the people and the noise, the ocean still provided a sense of peace and reflection.
The ripples make it hard to see, but there is a starfish at the bottom of this pool.
The starfish is a bit more visible in this image.
Johnathan now has help to keep control of the beach and the boat traffic.
The ever-present seaweed provides a home for some crawling sea life and makes for interesting photos (at least I think they are interesting!).
