Salzburg Day 4
Next performance is here at the Basilika Mondsee.
Mondsee is a beautiful small town.
Despite the gloomy day, the colors are bright.
The streets are clean and neat.
There are many small shops around and people are out and about despite the rain.
The gardens are well kept.
There is the obligatory statue in the center square.
There is a small cafe up close to the entrance to St. Michael's Basilica.
The Cafe is attached to an historic European hotel.
The clouds obscure a beautiful mountain view.
A unique mural and plaques at the side of the Basilica.
The altar at the Basilica.
A side altar at the Basilica in Mondsee.
The artwork in these Baroque style buildings is breath taking.
The performance, for a small audience sounds wonderful.
There was a small but very appreciative audience.
The handcraft on this pulpit caught my eye as I listened to the music.
Another of the side altars in the Basilica.
A view from behind the sopranos.
It's a long way from the front entrance, at least to this lens!
The architects achieved their goal of lively acoustics, and the composers matched their music to the acoustics. The results are wonderful.
A look at some of the detailed wood work.
The alto section.
